As the cool winds return and the days grow shorter, we welcome the quiet majesty of autumn and winter on the Coorong.
The lagoons swell with winter tides, covering sandbars and mirroring brooding skies. Northern migratory birds begin their long journey home, while local waterbirds remain in the calm. Long-nosed fur seals arrive in greater numbers, seeking shelter in the Coorong’s protected waters—basking on The Goolwa barrage and sandy shores through the colder months.
